2 days left- whoohoo!

I am ready to celebrate summer- only 2 school days left, and the little darlings are taking finals, so not too much else to do. The kids are as restless as I am, and driving me half crazy. My room is being used for summer school, so I have to take EVERYTHING down and pack up everththing in my room that I don't want destroyed by the middle school monsters. Ugh. I'm crossing my fingers that they destroy the lab area, so the district can't dawdle anymore about getting me new labs.

Back story on the labs- they are bright blue formica style with nasty black granite tops. The faucets are loose, so when the kids mess around with them they leak underneath. Last year I walked into my room with a mini-lake in the lab area beacuse one of the faucets had wiggled loose and flooded a corner of my room. So once that was "fixed," my room was even MORE moldy than it had been before. There was an article in the local paper about the labs in the science rooms, more specifically the room next to mine- the district was hoping to pass a tax levy in the August elections so they used our poor labs as evidence. Well, the levy passed and now the football fields are being redone with astro turf while my room still sits moldy and non-functional. Elliot Davis from channel 2 news You Paid For It did a story on the turf... the superintendant told him to talk to the board of education. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I'd like to send them some mold samples and let it grow in their cabinets for a few years. :)

Maybe next year. In the meantime, the middle school monsters can destroy my lab stations while I'm on SUMMER VACATION. counting down, baby!

B and B Wedding

Our friends Bonnie and Brian got married last weekend in Richmond Heights, MO- the wedding was AWESOME! The church was amazing- the altar was in the center of the room, and the pews were placed in a large circle around the altar. It looked kind of like an old church, very cool. The reception was at the Sheraton downtown (across from Scottrade Center). We shared a floor with the Derrty DJ Convention. It's all in the name...

Of course, Bonnie was GORGEOUS! And the party was fantastic, too. It was great to hang out with some of our good friends for an evening of fun. Some of the evidence:

Ben and Jean Marie, aka Table 3
Cupid Shuffle, baby
Rob and Leake

Nate "Michael Jackson" dancing to the wrong song. The DJ didn't have Billy Jean

It was still fantastic

Jean Marie and Rob chillin' at the table

Rob and Danielle- what a cute couple :)
We had a great time!

Sweet Grandma

Heather's Grandma Betty lost her battle with Lung Cancer on Friday, May 8th. She was so brave... While we were thankful that she is finally at peace, we miss her so much.

My Grandma and I were very close, and it breaks my heart that she had to leave us too soon. My biggest regret is that she won't be here to see her Great-Grandchildren. Since before Tim and I got married she was talking about how excited she was to get to babysit again. But I know that she will be the first to know when we are pregnant, and will celebrate with us anyway.

Grandma, you are one of the sweetest and most special people I know. I love you with all my heart, and I will miss you every day.

Summer Plans

Tim and I are very excited about our summer plans. After trying to get pregnant for a year and seeing multiple doctors, they have helped us come to the conclusion that the best way for us to get pregnant is through In Vitro Fertilization. (IVF) So...

We are scheduled to start the July cycle, and hopefully will have good results. Tim is starting to take some shots that he has to give himself either in his thigh muscle or in his belly. I mixed the first dose for him, and he's still alive so I guess I didn't mess it up too bad! We're really excited about this, and are hopeful that it will be successful. We'll keep you posted!

Introducing Jacob Steven Horstmann

Our brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Theresa, had a baby boy yesterday! He is a blessing to our family, and we are so excited to be an Aunt and Uncle. We can't wait to have one of our own, but in the meantime, we will be happy to babysit!
